COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DISPENSER, PAPER NAPKIN
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (cid) covers a stainless steel paper napkin dispenser.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design and construction. The body of the paper napkin dispenser shall be constructed from 4.00series corrosion-resisting steel. The dispenser shall have two openings for dispensing napkins, 180 degrees apart. The dispenser shall hold a minimum of 125 folded paper napkins measuring 7 inches (17.8 cm) in length by 3-1/2 inches in width 18.9 cm). The dispenser shall be capable of holding a equal number of napkins on both sides. The dispenser shall be provided with four non-marking rubber feet. The interior of the dispenser shall have two pressure plates, one for each side, which maintain pressure against the napkins for ease of dispensing. The pressure plates may be made from corrosion-resisting steel or zinc plated carbon steel. The outer surfaces of the dispenser shall have a smooth and polished finish. The dispenser shall properly dispense single napkins without tearing.
2.2 Marking. The dispenser shall be marked with the manufacturer’s name, trade name, or trademark.
2.3 Workmanship. The dispenser shall be clean, free from any cracks, fractures, malformi.ng, scale, pits, and flux deposits. The dispenser shall have no sharp edges, slivers, burrs, scratches, tool marks, or other defects which may affect appearance or serviceability.
2.4 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
