COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DISPENSER, TOOTHPICK
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (cid) covers a toothpick dispenser.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design and construction. The toothpick dispenser shall be fabricated from corrosion-resisting steel or aluminum. The dispenser shall hold a minimum of 250 round wooden toothpicks which measure from 2-1/2 to 2-3/4 inches (6.4 to 7.0 cm) in length. The dispenser shall deliver one toothpick at a time. The delivery mechanism shall be actuated by dial or lever action. The dispenser shall open at the top for loading toothpicks. The dispenser shall be provided with four non-marking rubber feet. When fully loaded, the dispenser shall be capable of dispensing 23 out of 25 toothpicks without jamming.
2.2 Finish. The color of the dispenser shall be the natural color of the corrosion-resisting steel or anodized aluminum. All exposed parts, with the exception of the rubber feet and roller/knob assembly, shall have a polished or anodized finish.
2.3 Marking. The dispenser shall be marked with the manufacturer’s name, trade name, or trademark.
2.4 Workmanship. The dispenser shall be clean, free from any cracks, fractures, malforming, sharp edges, slivers, burrs, scratches, tool marks, or other defects which may affect appearance or serviceability.
2.5 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contacting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
